John Teichert Announces Historic Fundraising for U.S. Senate Race

BALTIMORE, Md. – Today, retired Brigadier General John Teichert announced that his campaign raised $304,000 during the fourth quarter of 2023.

It’s a historic fundraising haul for Teichert, a first-time candidate for any political office who announced his bid for the open U.S. Senate seat in Maryland back in October. Teichert’s fundraising feat is the largest amount raised in the first quarter by any GOP candidate who went on to become the party’s nominee since former Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele in 2006.

More importantly, his fundraising success is a strong sign of a broad-based grassroots backing of his campaign, with approximately 95 percent of Teichert’s donations coming from low-dollar donors, Teichert received support from across the state of Maryland. Donations for Teichert’s campaign came in from 22 of Maryland’s 23 counties and Baltimore City.

Responding to the fundraising success he’s received since his campaign began, General Teichert released the following statement:

“I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the wide swath of Marylanders who have embraced my commitment as a new kind of candidate – one dedicated to leadership, not politics,” Teichert said in the statement. “Our historic fundraising success is yet another sign that Marylanders are ready for change not just here in the state, but in Washington D.C. as well. I look forward to hearing more from the people of our great state as I travel extensively to earn their support and ultimately serve and represent them in the U.S. Senate.”

Teichert’s historic fundraising comes on the heels of support from law enforcement officers, state delegates and senators, and other former Maryland elected officials, including former Lt. Governor Rutherford.
